ULTIMA DEFENDER is a physical card with an NFC chip that stores part of your private key. It is used to confirm transactions in the SMART Wallet—such as sending tokens, requesting splitting rewards, and more. To confirm a transaction, simply tap the ULTIMA DEFENDER card to your smartphone with the SMART Wallet app installed. In this guide, we’ll show you how to set up ULTIMA DEFENDER for your wallet. We will demonstrate three setup options for ULTIMA DEFENDER:
- for an imported wallet,
- for an active wallet,
- for a new wallet.
If you already have the SMART Wallet app installed, follow the instructions below.
Setting Up ULTIMA DEFENDER for an Imported Wallet
You can add ULTIMA DEFENDER to an existing wallet during the import process. To do this, go to “Settings” and select “My Wallets”.
Tap the “+ ADD WALLET” button:
Select the “Restore Wallet” option.
In the window that opens, enter your mnemonic phrase:
Then, at the bottom, select the “Use ULTIMA Defender” option:
After this, part of your mnemonic phrase will be recorded onto the ULTIMA DEFENDER.
During the setup, a screen with tutorials will appear explaining how ULTIMA Defender works.
Setting Up ULTIMA DEFENDER for an Existing Wallet
Go to “Settings” and select “My Wallets”.
Select the wallet you want to connect ULTIMA DEFENDER to from the list, and tap the arrow on the right to open wallet settings:
On the next screen, select “Make a Hard Wallet”:
Next, you’ll need to confirm that you remember your mnemonic phrase.
To do this, enter your mnemonic phrase and tap “Restore Wallet”:
On the following screen, you’ll be prompted to tap your ULTIMA DEFENDER to your smartphone.
Tap the card on the back side of your phone near the camera — that’s where the NFC chip is typically located. Hold the card in place for 1–2 seconds. If you remove it too quickly, the data might not be read correctly.
Note: In some cases, you may need to enable NFC in your device’s settings.
Once setup is complete, you will see a confirmation message:
Setting Up ULTIMA DEFENDER for a New Wallet
Download the SMART Wallet app from the App Store if you’re using iOS, or from Google Play if you’re on Android.
When you launch the app, you’ll be prompted to choose your preferred language. Select the language you’re most comfortable with. Please note: loading the selected language may take a few moments. If the language doesn’t load immediately, please wait a bit.
Tap “Create Wallet.” In the next window, choose your desired security type and select the option “Use ULTIMA Defender” during wallet creation.
If you choose Basic Security, the wallet will generate only a mnemonic phrase. If you choose Passphrase Security, you’ll need to create a passphrase.
A passphrase is a thirteenth word added to the 12-word mnemonic phrase, created by the user when setting up the wallet. The passphrase is not stored in the SMART Wallet, and only the user knows it. It acts as an additional layer of protection for your wallet in case you lose access to your 12-word mnemonic phrase. Please note: if you lose or forget your passphrase, it cannot be recovered, and you will permanently lose access to your wallet. That’s why we recommend using a passphrase only for experienced crypto users.
Next, you’ll see a screen displaying 12 words. To reveal them, press and hold the button labeled “Press and hold to see the phrase”:
Please be extra careful at this step — this phrase is the key to securing your funds. We recommend writing it down on paper. Do not store it electronically, and never share it with anyone.
To continue, you’ll be asked to confirm the mnemonic phrase by selecting the words in the correct order.
If everything is correct, a congratulatory message will appear. After that, the app will prompt you to tap your ULTIMA Defender card to your phone’s NFC reader. Place the card near the back camera area, where most phones have their NFC chip. Hold it there for 1–2 seconds — if you remove the card too quickly, it might not register.
Note: In some cases, you may need to enable NFC in your phone settings.
Once setup is complete, you will see a confirmation message:
Done! You have successfully connected your ULTIMA DEFENDER! Now, access to perform any cryptocurrency transactions in your SMART Wallet is entirely in your hands. Even if you lose your smartphone, your crypto assets will remain completely safe.
In case you lose your ULTIMA Defender, you can always order a new card and connect it to your existing wallet — as long as you remember your mnemonic phrase. That’s why we emphasize once again how important it is to store your mnemonic phrase securely.
